The Powerful Testimony of a KFCUSA Teen PDF Print E-mail

ImageFor Nearly seven years I have pour my heart and life into reaching kids in the public schools.  Years ago God made me aware of the potential multiplication process of this vision as these kids grew up and became teens, college students and eventually parents themselves.  The story you are about to read is the story of a young lady that has been involved in Kids For Christ for all seven years.  I have long been impressed with her as she is clearly a leader.  She was her class President in Elementary and Jr. High School and probably has other such accomplishments that I have even forgotten or did not know.  There had been no Christian/Bible Club in her High School for the last couple years, so when she contacted me and told me she wanted to spearhead the club, I was thrilled.  The following in the story of the first meeting of the year. --Bob Heath

I am a 9th grader and have bee attending Kids For Christ ever since elementary school and after years of attending numerous meetings, my heart was set on becoming part of the KFC team.  At my school in order to have any sort of club you must have a student sponsor.  Therefore, I took it upon myself to be that very person.  I was skeptical at first due to the fact it was all new to me.  But with my family, friends, and Bob Heaths support and prayer I continued on with my decision.

The first meeting was pretty much just an introduction of the year.  Only about 7 or 8 students showed up which is quite disappointing considering the thousands we have at my school.  I did not get discouraged though.  During the meeting I explained the importance of this program and I gave everyone the opportunity to write something on an index card.  I told them to write what prayers they need, what they want to hear about this year, or anything they thought would help us better connect as a group.  Not many people opened up but still I remained content with this outcome.

After the meeting a peer came up to me and asked me to pray for her step-mother.  Her step-mother might have breast cancer she said.  I told the girl I would keep her in my prayers and talked to her a little before class.  She thanked me and off she went.  Later that day this same girl called me after school with news that her step-mother was clear of cancer.  She thanked me for the praying and I thanked God for showing me what this program can do.  Sure only 7 or 8 people showed up that day but, I helped one.  That means more to me than anything else in the world.  I cannot wait for the weeks to come when I can affect even more people.

Note:
The club this young lady is sponsoring is run by her and a group of friends.  Pastors, I personally meet with these student leaders at Starbucks to prepare the meetings, they carry the whole thing out.  This could be duplicated anywhere and I would be happy to assist you in seeing that happen.--Bob
