Operation Treat-or-Treat 05-06 PDF Print E-mail
Last year in October we tried something “new.”  Unlike "Operation Big Bird," which was an attempt to get every one of the kids we minister to, to lead their families in the Ticket to Heaven Prayer at the thanksgiving table, this was easy! Last year we did it in three of the schools. Bob Heath encouraged the kids to do what he called "Operation Treat-or-Treat."  Bob realized that contrary to what many Christians and Christian leaders would like to see happen, kids are going to go Trick or Treating.  He spent a few minutes each week in October role-playing with the kids preparing them to be bold for the cause of the gospel.  The plan was to get kids to hand out tickets to heaven to the adults who answered the doors on Halloween night.
The results: Seventeen kids asked 50 people if they had a ticket to heaven at the door as they trick or treated.  The results were pretty astounding: 22 adults and kids got their ticket to heaven on Halloween night!  Bob continued, "Four of the kids completely shocked me.  They reported that they stayed home and handed out candy.  As they were handing out candy they asked every child who came to their door if they had a ticket to heaven."

Bob said last year, "I only wish I'd  made this a citywide project.”  This year he’s doing just that.  “I am asking all our team leaders to get the kids excited about this project.”  The kids are instructed to yell “Treat or Treat” when they ring the doorbell.  When the homeowner answers the door the child says, “I have a treat for a treat for you.” Then they ask the homeowner if they have a ticket to heaven.  If the adult says, "no" the child will ask, “Would you like one?”  On the occasion that someone says they’d like one, the child leads them in “The Ticket to Heaven Prayer.”  (Click here to see the Ticket to Heaven Prayer )  “I am believing God that at least 100 people will be led to Jesus by our kids this Halloween night," says Heath.  Please agree with us in prayer that we not only meet this goal, but exceed it.

(We will report the results to you in November.)
