The Kids for Christ 04-05 tour hits the road again this weekend. This time the tour stop is at Calvary Chapel in Nashville. It seems a little surreal to me since the church meets at the public High School I would have gone to if I had stayed in Nashville through my Senior year. But this time I go as a missionary to the school systems of our nation.
The KFCUSA 04-05 TOUR is my version of the typical "missionary message". The usual slide show has been replaced with a very cool promo video. I explain to the congregation that the biggest challenge a typical missionary has is that he can't take church with him to the field. But, I can take them to the field with me. "I need you to close your eyes and picture what it was like to be a child. You see as a child you begged to be a part of things. You volunteered to be a part of the game, no matter how disgusting it was. You participated in songs with motions and most importantly you did what you were told to because you were good obedient children. I hope you have that in your mind now, because that is how you are going to act until further notice." From that point I proceed to do a Kids for Christ meeting with the congregation. The Pastor is always selected as one of the participations for the game. (I wonder if this affects my offering.) I usually find him to be the most competitive person in the room. If there is time I may do one song with motions. ("The Hokey Pokey" is always funny to watch with adults.) Then I teach them a message Kids for Christ style. Which includes an altar call and the teaching of "The Ticket to Heaven Prayer." Then, I give them notice that they are no longer children and begin to share the vision of Kids for Christ USA. You see in nearly four years of ministry the biggest challenge I have had in gaining support is getting people to see what we do. Once they do, they want to be a part of it in some way. The last two times I presented a message like this I saw an average of four new parent sponsors and a new four-man ministry team come from each congregation. (Figures based on an average congregation size of 200.) After this meeting, I make myself available to come back and train the church members to do what we do, preferably in an evening service that same day. If not I go back in a few weeks and help them get the program kicked off. It is my goal to do this two to three times a month throughout 2005. If you want to see this presentation in your church you can. Talk to your Pastor or get me his information so I can contact him. Right now is the best time for booking me, because after the two magazine articles in February and March (plus some other publicity I'm working on) my calendar will fill up quickly. I believe that God's heart is beating for the souls of the kids in the public schools. I also believe that the schools are the greatest untapped mission field in America. Won't you please help support me and my teams as we work the field of America's Public Schools? Professional fund raisers tell me to give you a specific amount or project to give to. How about this: Anything God is prompting or has prompted you to do, do it today. As for me, I am going after the hearts of America's public school children. I pray you come with me. |
