Recently, I received an email from a 7th grader telling me how awful
and dark her year had been. She explained to me how she felt alone,
that she even felt like God wanted nothing to do with her, “…if He’s
really real?” This child went on and told me that every time she went
to youth group she felt like maybe it would help to respond to the
altar call at the end of the service. “But I remember that I gave my
life to Jesus when I was little. Mr. Bob, what should I do?” |

We typically don't share information like this with you all because we
have worked very hard to be seen not as a potential liability but as an
asset to the schools. We have worked all year to encourage young
believers to carry their Bible in their backpack and read it on their
free time. In light of this, I feel this article that I received via
email today from Christian Educators Association International is very
important for us as Christians, Parents, Teachers, and Ministers. |

On April 8-10, I was blessed to take part in a children workers training at Abundant Living Family Church in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I spent Friday pouring this vision into Danny Aguirre and Pastor Mike Madrigal. (Those two know how to feed a guest minister!) |

They Said It Couldn't Be Done In New England |

I have been told over and over, "Sure, Kids for Christ works in Tulsa, OK, but it will never work outside the Bible belt." They say just keep dreaming Bob, maybe someday when nationwide revival hits the USA. Repeatedly, I have responded with a somewhat cocky, "I guarantee you it will work anywhere in the country. We may have some opposition, but the law is on our side and further, it has been upheld in the courts many times in the last 20 years." |

Cutting: A National Epidemic |
|

Several months ago one the Kids for Christ USA Team informed me of an issue that I hate to admit I did not know about, so I more or less blew him off. Just a few days later a Father told me about a situation involing a friend of his daughter. Within days of that two moms from the same school called me about the same topic.
The issue is refered to as "Cutting" among the kids (primarily grades 6-12) and in the media as "Self Mutilation". Kids, as a means of trying to cope with the stress of life take earasers, paper clips, scissors, razor blades... and cut themselves in various places on their bodies. Chances are teens you know are involved in this unbelievable practice. To me this makes teen drug and alchol abuse almost seem like a child's play. |

Sept. 24, 2003 Two students fatally shot at Rocori High School in Cold Spring, Minn.
March 5, 2001 15 year old boy kills two fellow students and wounds 13 others at Santana High School in Santee, Calif.
May 26, 2000 13-year-old kills his English teacher on last day of classes in Lake Worth, Fla.
Feb. 29, 2000 Six-year-old boy shot and killed by 6-year-old classmate at Buell Elementary School in Mount Morris Township, Mich.
Nov. 19, 1999 13-year-old girl shot and killed by 12-year-old in Deming, N.M.
April 20, 1999 2 Students killed 12 students
and a teacher and wounded 23 before killing themselves at Columbine
High School in Littleton, Colo.
Now for the seventh time since 1999 the news is reporting yet another school shooting. Yesterday a young man in Red Lake, MN went on a rampage that
left 10, including himself, dead and 12 others wounded. His first
victims were his grandparents. Others killed were a security guard,
a teacher and five students. The news agencies have
covered the details well so I won't go into them further, but I
simply ask a question:
What if we could restore the Bible to our schools and end this violence forever?
What if these children had been reached with the message of God's
Love and gave their lives to Jesus instead of taking the lives of
others? What if they had received the love of God at an
elementary age? Not only would they still be alive, but also the
life of God would have been brought into these communities instead of
the tragedy we are seeing unfold over and over again.
I've said before... I will say it again. It is time for a change. |
