Thanksgiving Update

It's that time again, time to celebrate all the incredible things God is doing and has done in our lives. The Goal of Kids for Christ USA since the beginning has been to share this vision in every open door and empower parents/students and churches to plant and sustain clubs in every public elementary school in the nation. It has never been about money, if it was I would have charged every parent/student sponsor and churches a monthly or annual fee to utilize our services and our name. (Typically known as franchise fees.) As you know I don't!

Kids for Christ USA is about "equipping the saints for the work of the ministry". Then giving them a way to do it and the tools to do it. I am blessed that we have come so far, but we have a long way to go.

Operation Treat-or-Treat Report

In the past we have done "Operation Big Bird." This was an attempt to get every one of the kids we minister to, to lead their families in the Ticket to Heaven Prayer at the thanksgiving table. The crazy idea has been radically effective. For each of the last two years kids have prayed with over 1000 family members at the Thanksgiving table. As best we can tell roughly 22% of those who prayed that prayer at the tables made a salvation or "rededication" decision. THAT'S SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR!!

Big Bird was easy! This year in three of the schools Bob Heath encouraged the kids to do what he called "Operation Treat-or-Treat." Bob realized that contrary to what many Christians and Christian Leaders would like to see happen, kids are going to go Trick or Treating. He spent a few minutes each week in October role-playing with the kids preparing them to be bold for the cause of the gospel. The plan was to get kids to hand out tickets to heaven to the adults who answered the doors on Halloween night.

Guess what? They did it!! Seventeen kids asked 50 people if they had a ticket to heaven at the door as they trick or treated. The results were pretty astounding: 22 adults and kids got their ticket to heaven on Halloween night! "I only wish I'd made this a citywide project," said Heath. Bob continued, "Four of the kids completely shocked me. They reported that they stayed home and handed out candy. As they were handing out candy they asked every child who came to their door if they had a ticket to heaven." Bo also said that next year he intends to promote "Treat-or-Treat" across Tulsa, OK, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Indianapolis, IN, and possibly Nashville, TN, by the associations we are developing in Kids For Christ USA. "The way I see God moving right now I won't be surprised to be in several more cities next fall and hopefully cover the rest of Tulsa with motivated evangelistic trick or treaters giving and receiving treats for the Kingdom of God" said Bob.

In order for this to happen we still need you to get involved in a variety of ways: Share the vision, become a parent sponsor, become a minister, become a worship leader or even become a monthly financial partner. Bob said in jest, "My Gosh Man! Why would you risk missing out or missing God? If God is leading you to hook up with us, DO IT!!!!!! We need you and the kids need you too".

Now Is The Time To Act

As you know for the last three weeks I have been writing to you about the "Arab World Studies" program and the fallout surrounding it in my/our beloved Tulsa. I like 1170 AM KFAQ had more response regarding this subject than before. During the last three weeks of October over 10,000 hits to our website were directly a related to these emails.

I was recently interviewed by Charisma Magazine for a "news" article to be published in both the magazine and e-newsletter they publish. There is even a possibility that my Training Manual titled "How Are You Doing That?" could be published by them. They are also assisting me in making contacts with the Billy Graham Association and other large national ministries. Doors are opening to expand this ministry in Tulsa and the USA. To Top it off their will likely be four brand new Bible Clubs likely be starting within the month in Tulsa.

Just this morning I spoke with a children's Pastor in a the northeast and she expects to hear from a Parent in her church today who is getting approval to start a club in her child's school. This is very exciting because this is an area that the agenda of "alternate lifestyles" are pressing forward at record pace. Sadly, We (Christians) are playing catch up because the schools there already have gai & lezbn clubs (Misspelled intentionally, so that this letter won't be tracked by search engines.) ...LEGALLY.

Does this upset you? Just wait until you hear this: The Equal Access Amendment which was granted 20 years ago for us to have Bible Clubs also makes it legal for any group to sponsor a club in the schools. At present my research shows 56,800 public elementary and junior high schools in our nation. (This number does not include high Schools.) In 20 years I have been able to trace less than 10,000 Bible clubs in our nation, (The majority are in High School.) but there are 2000+ gai & lezbn clubs. I have been unable to find any information on izlamc (also misspelled intentionally) clubs, but they could be there. I did just hear of three izlamc moms meeting to start their our club in a school we function in right now. Folks I hate to say it, but these other "forces" (spiritual and natural) are organized and determined to push their agendas. IT"S TIME WE DO THE SAME! Stop looking for the perfect time and let's get busy.

As exciting as growth can be, it can also be a challenge. Growth requires more time and more cash flow to accommodate the additional time and expenses. Bluntly stated lately, offerings have been down substantially. In conversation with Board member we discussed another run at monthly partnership. As, he and I this discussed by phone we calculated that if every family that receives our e-newsletters could commit to $10 a month all of the needs of the ministry would be met and even have some "wiggle room" for future growth. Since we are growing, so is the database, which truly makes the $10 a month figure realistic. Some of you can do more and that would be greatly appreciated. The thing I want to get across is that making and keeping a $10 a month commitment really will make a huge impact in helping us reach more kids. In Addition To Watchdog Committees...

Two weeks ago I was made aware of a story that had been aired on a local radio station: AM 1170 KFAQ. The story was about a workshop for a curriculum that teaches Islam in the schools. This curriculum is represented as geography and history. Yet it actually teaches students to recite verses of the Koran, makes them take a Muslim name, wear Muslim clothing, pray to Allah, even stage their own Jihad as an extra credit assignment.

I have the privilege of meeting many of the principals and teachers in our schools. I stand by them, because most of them are wonderful people just trying to make a positive impact on our children. The radio broadcast told that 8 or 9 teachers attended the workshop from the Tulsa, Jenks, and Union Public Schools. When approached, all of the schools said they would never use that curriculum or any other that teaches religion to the students. This is good, but it wasn't enough.

This past Tuesday KFAQ's Michael DelGiorno held a Town Hall meeting at Eastwood Baptist Church here in Tulsa. Over 1100 people attended the meeting. (Of which I was one.) The meeting was truly informative and potentially effective. Citizens were inspired to commit to being a part of "watchdog committees" who join the PTA and attend it's meetings as well as the school board meetings in an effort to shut down any curriculum that looks like it will promote Islam our any other cult in our children's schools.

Congratulations Tulsa, we stood up for what is right...or did we? Those of you who know me know that Kids for Christ USA could reach more students than it has if perhaps I was more self-promoting. I have never gone looking for publicity before. (Many of you have told me I should, but that's just not "my style".) Well, I guess it's time to "change my spots". Remember Kids for Christ USA is already assisting parents and students in 21 area public schools legally preaching the love of God before school in their buildings because of the Equal Access Amendment. Imagine, if we could have mobilized that 1100 plus parents, grandparents and Pastors in that room to plant Bible Clubs in every school in the area in addition to the watchdog committees!

I contend that when we, concerned Christian citizens of Tulsa (OR ANY U.S. CITY), make a strong positive push to plant and promote strong and effective Bible Clubs in OUR public schools the outcome will be life-changing. I know we can do it. I saw how many of us were at that meeting to fight against something. Let's get twice as many to get behind something.

It is my desire to assist any parent, student, or Pastor in getting an effective Bible club in every school; teaching the love of God and biblical character to students across this city and Nation. If we do that, we will empower a generation to stand up for what they believe. When this is done effectively, no Islam curriculum would even make an impact in our schools.

Let's watchdog together and reach the un-churched children at the same time.

Maybe More Instruction Is Needed

Last week I shared something with you all that was a concern to me and based on your responses last week, it was a concern to you too. As I stated last week this ministry is about being seen as an asset to the schools and a lifeline to the students. In responding to any issue we need to keep in mind that we are a light to the world. I read a quote yesterday that makes my point very well:

"Of one hundred men, one will read the Bible; the ninety-nine will read the Christian."—Dwight L. Moody

Kids for Christ (and The Link) is the answer to this situation regardless of whether the curriculum mentioned last week is adopted or not. You see, the presence of Kids for Christ USA Bible Club in every school in the area makes a difference. It is the answer because these kids, (many of whom don't have a church) are getting the truth of God's word poured into them and it's building (or solidifying) the foundation of Biblical character they need in order to stand in the face of something that it is "wrong". I believe and I said in an email yesterday that I could almost guarantee that I have 100 7^th grade kids that would take a failing grade before they would participate in a class like was mentioned last week. This is because they have a solid foundation in Jesus.

I need you to help me spread the word to parents, students, Pastors...that Kids for Christ USA is legal, effective and needs to be in EVERY ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN OUR CITY!! If you want to fight against the Islamic religion or any other religious curriculum then fight by doing something positive such as recruiting sponsors for our schools. My personal cell phone is listed on this email and I will gladly talk to anyone about this opportunity. Also note I will personally share this message with any pastor or congregation in any city and help them train people to do it. THIS IS THE HOUR AND THIS IS THE WAY TO "ACT". Let's not wait and end up "re-acting". Together we're reaching a new generation of Kids for Christ.

Year End Student Survey 2003-04

About three weeks from the end of the school year one of my advisory board members suggested that I do a survey. "Ask kids to give honest answers to a series of questions". As I wrote the survey questions I was a bit apprehensive because to me, ministry is about touching lives for the Kingdom of God, not about numbers.
