Increase The Effectiveness Of Red Ribbon Week

My sons have participated in an annual anti-drug program called “Red Ribbon Week” for 10 years now.  As a result of our ministry, I was once asked to do an “all-school assembly” during Red Ribbon Week.  The punch line of the crazy skit we did for the children was that “Doing drugs is like eating from a dooky diaper”.  (You had to see the skit: It was hilarious!)  This year my wife is the parent volunteer heading up the festivities of the week for the school.  Needless to say, I believe in being proactive with children in order to maximize our effectiveness in reaching children...whatever the message is.  Then it dawned on me that I honestly didn’t know the origin of the program.  Let me share the story that my research uncovered:

Bob Heath's Column on Good News Daily

Life…It’s Interesting.

By Bob Heath
Founder of Kids for Christ USA

Life, as you’ve probably already discovered, is an interesting little proposition. One of ups, downs, ins, outs and goofy little quirks that we as Christians call trials.

I, unlike many ministers (and Christians in general), am very thankful that Jesus told us that tribulations would come. Otherwise, there would have been many times in my life that I would have felt like some sort of misfit Christian. Back to School with the Bible
Jenks Journal Article August 24, 2006 by Don Diehl.

So you've heard about the Bible being banned from public schools, right? "Not true," says area resident Bob Heath who heads up a national organization called "Kids for Christ USA." As students start back to class in area schools this month, Heath is ready to help parents and students organize Bible Clubs in their schools in the Tulsa-Jenks-Broken Arrow area. .

Heath helped start nearly three dozen such clubs in Tulsa in 2001, and the model is now being used from New York to California. This year he will assist other parent-student groups in Jenks as well as help students launch new clubs where the Bible is studied and its principles practiced..

It's that time again, time to kick off another school year.  Time to stir the creative jucies and shift the focus of KFCUSA back to the schools.  We've seen blind eyes open to what the law really allows with regard to the schools in the accross the country this summer.  Prepared and fine tuned the structure of the ministry, even began preparation for our own internship which we intend to kick off in January 07.  Now IT'S TIME TO SHARE GOD'S LOVE with children again.
