Just a couple of months ago KFCUSA was honored to lock arms with a parent and a ministry team in Round Rock, TX. The potential launch of this club was exciting for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that we would be working with a group in Texas now. One aspect that I found truly exciting is that God allowed me to see how seeds grow. You see, the ministry team leader is a young man I have known since 1999 when he was a 15 year old kid in a youth group I worked with as a "leader". I can honestly tell you that at that time I would have seen him as the most unlikely person to ever step into such a role. When we kicked off KFCUSA in he and his older brother and younger sister assisted me in three clubs in the Tulsa area. My prayer has long been that people would become infected with KFCUSA to the point that they couldn't get away from it. That children and young team leaders would grow up and carry this vision on in some significant way. Jeff (Not his real name) is the first answer to that prayer I have been priviledged to see.
The following letter is from our parent sponsor in Round Rock. It is always a blessing when a parent is a good communicator. By that I mean, they keep the parents in their club up to speed as well as volentarily keep me informed as to what is going on in their group. The following is her e-mail update to the families in that club:
Hello Parents,
We've started the new year off to a great start. We are studying 1 Timothy
4:12, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an
example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
We are breaking this message up into 5 parts. So far we've discussed being an
example in speech and in life.
I pray that the kids in Bible club will be a light to their school and
community. I want to impact more and more kids. I want our club to be excellent. Our goal is to plant God's word into the hearts of our kids in a fun and
welcoming environment. This is so exciting to me because the Bible says that
God's word will not return void. We are making improvements everyday. For
example, I would like to do a much better job staying in touch with you.
Starting now, look forward to short weekly emails of our lessons, along with any
information that needs to be passed on to you parents.
Thanks for your support. Also, your questions, comments, and suggestions
are always welcomed. I thank God for this club and for all that He is doing and
for all that He is going to do in the lives of our kids.
Sincerely,
M.G. (Initials used to protect privacy) Thank you and welcome to the KFCUSA family to all of you in Round Rock, TX--bob
