Recently while I was having my prayer time I happened to read in Ephesians 2:6, "I am seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus". Then the passage in Matthew 7 where Jesus said, "ASK an you shall receive, SEEK and you shall find, KNOCK and the door shall be opened..." passed through my head. I began to meditate on being seated with Him in heavenly places. (What a cool thought.)

I was overwhelmed as I envisioned (I said "envisioned", not "had a vision".) myself knocking on a door. Jesus came and opened the door, hugged me and invited me in. Once inside Jesus said, "Dad look its Bob, he came to visit." Father God hugged me and said the funniest thing to me. He said, "Come in, have a seat, have some coffee, we'll talk". (In a New York accent.) Can you imagine hanging out and having coffee with God? (I don’t usually drink coffee, but I think I would in this case.)

As I continued with this line of thinking I realized that I had never really thought through this verse before, yet I had "stood'' on it many times before. It was the verse I would stand on if I needed something and my faith was "weak". (I had reasoned that Jesus said simply "ask" and we would receive.) It left me with the scriptural assurance that I didn't have to be a faith giant 100% of the time to receive from God.

As I saw that scene play out in my heart and mind I began to cry because I was allowed to see myself and most of the Body of Christ. We rarely ever get past the point of "asking" God for something that we need. Probably 50% or less ever receive much of what we ask God for, yet He said:

"Ask and you shall receive''.

Jesus went on and said,

"...Seek and you'll find..."This just might be why He tells us to "ask": He wants you to seek Him so He can show Himself to you in a way that will be real to you: by receiving from Him.

"...Knock and the door will be opened to you..."

Can you fathom that God wants us to spend time with Him so badly that He would promise that we would receive whatever we have need of, all we have to do is seek Him. His door is always open; all we need to do is knock. He loves to entertain company. God is a great host!

Some people will be challenged by the concept of having tea and crumpets with Jesus, but what is friendship about? What kind of marriage would we have if the only time we spoke to our spouse were when we wanted something, (Primarily sex...sorry guys.)? Of course we wouldn’t do that with our spouses. Why? Because we recognize that intimacy takes time and dedication. Our relationship with Jesus should be no different. (It usually is, but it shouldn't be.) I am not trying to preach a gospel of works, just that relationship require consistency.

So, in closing I encourage you: Ask, receive, seek, find, knock enter in and have coffee with Father God and Jesus, it is after all what we were created for: A little coffee and tawk... fellowship with God.

P.S. Remember if you pray over you crumpets with Him, pray this little prayer:

“God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food, amen.”

I think God the great host will get a little chuckle out of that.
